More Conversations with my husband #6

Here is another snippet from my simple, but significant day to day life with my husband. My hubs and I have been married  six years and I love him to pieces and sometimes the conversations we have can be down right hysterical! Here is conversation we had today:
_________________________________________________________________________________

Hubs: how much longer on dinner?

Me: however much time is left on the timer.

Hubs: 2 more hours?!

Me: (side note.....cooking a pot roast) Yea if we would have gotten home sooner.....

Hubs: okay, blame me and my shoe shopping!

Me: {laughing because I am picturing him loaded down with shopping bags from a shopping spree}

You know you're a mommy when: Sleeping In

You know you're a mommy when.......you get excited when your kiddo sleeps in!! Happy mommy dance in her bath robe and slippers!
We've always been good about having a bedtime routine for Little Miss, but for some reasons unknown to me she will wake up EARLY! Ugh. On a normal day she will wake up between 7 am and 7:30 am. However, there have been a couple days recently where it's been 6:15 am or 6:30 am.

I normally get up around 6:30ish so I can down so coffee and wake up a little before the attentiveness and activities begin. I try and relish in my last few moments of "me" not mommy time. Anyone else do this?
On those early days, I trudged stumbled fumble walk in there and calm her down. Soon after, we make our way to the couch and begin our morning cartoons or "mooeys" with some good ole chocolate milk! I do love those snuggle on the couch moments. They are one of my favorites. Yes, I treasure them because I know they are not going to last forever.

Yes, sleep deprivation is apart of parenthood. I don't like it.....never did. It does get better (even when You think it won't it does). It's part of the package. It's the simple significance.

Back to he Old Grindstone

After a beautiful winter break, this teacher has to go back to the business of changing the world through social studies classes today. I get the feeling that I will feel like this later when it's all said and done......

Mars Fan Here

Any Veronica Mars fans out there? Anyone? Anyone? I will say loud and proud---I am! And you can imagine my excitement when I came across this little gem at Wal-Mart Thursday....
I was so excited and I grabbed it right up because there were only 2 left.  I paid $10! Woot, woot. I wish they would have had all the seasons available for that price.

Did you know that this show was only on for three seasons? Kind of bummer really. I didn't watch it at the time it was on if I am being honest. However, thanks to Netflix I was able to watch all three seasons in a matter of weeks. I was able to do things like that more easily in the B.B. time (before baby).

Fans of this show even helped to raise funds for it to be made into a movie! Kind of cool right? Here is the kickstarter commercial for the movie.
Here is the trailer for the movie.
Okay, so who wants to go see this with me? Let me know ASAP. We'll make a date of it. It will be a blast!

Winn Dixie Trip 1/3/14

I jumped on a paper towel deal this morning that I wanted to share with you. I was down to one package of paper towels in my stock pile so I had been on the look out for a good stock up option and lucky for me one popped up this week and the coupon blogs that I follow.

These Marcal small step paper towels packs are currently on sale at WD for BOGO @ $6.99. Large packs like this don't always go one sale so it's nice when they do and you have a COUPON FOR IT!!! Happy dance.
A couple inserts back Marcal released a $1/1 Q which I used on the the 4 packs I picked up. The break down went like this. I paid for two of the packs $13.98 and then I used (4) $1 Qs which lowered my OOP to $9.98. So I got (32) paper towels for 31 cents each!! Not too shabby.

Why do I need so many? I plead hubby and toddler messes, but really folks prices fluctuate and coupons expire so it's best to stock up for your family or self when the price is low!!

You know you're a mommy when: Smelling

You know you're a mommy when......
I'll admit it! I'm a butt smeller! No shame in the game. It's just how it's played. I do it out of love not out of like....trust me.

London Broil Recipe

I wouldn't say I was the best cook in the world. You won't be seeing me on Master Chef or running my own restaurant. I will say that I can read and thus I can follow a recipe so it works out. I like attempting new stuff because the same old gets old real quick.

Pinterest is a great resource for search for recipe links and organizing said links on your boards. I wanted to share with you one of my Pinterest finds and my personal modifications of the recipe.

My local Winn-Dixie had a sale on London Broil for Buy One Get One. I had never cooked one before, but I was willing to try. I found this recipe on Pinterest. There was no home site link, but someone left the directions in the comments. I didn't want to use the marinade and rub posted so I used the ingredients I normally use for a pot roast (another Pinterest find).

I preheated the oven to 500 degrees. I covered the London Broil in a mixture of the "gravy". To make the "gravy" I used one brown gravy packet, one dry ranch packet and one dry Italian dressing packet and mixed together in 3/4 cup of warm water. I placed the London Broil on top of a bed of onions and poured the gravy on top.  As soon as I was done with the super easy prep, I put it into the preheated oven. I immediately dropped the heat down to 225 and let the broil cook for 45 minutes. Do not open the oven....you'll let the heat out!

After 45 minutes, I increased the heat to 350 for 25 minutes. I prefer my meat on the medium well side hence this step. If you like more of the medium rare your roast will be done by now.

Here is what is it looked like after it was done and resting. Yummy right?
After the meat rested, the hubs sliced away and our dinner we did enjoy!
I hope you found this little recipe rundown helpful and give it a try. I am positive that you will like it.

CVS Trip 1/2/14

I wanted to share with you the pretty fantabulous transaction I did at CVS today. My initial goal for this trip was to get diapers because I was dangerously low! I know. I slipped on the diaper deals. I hang my head in shame.

Well luck would have it that CVS only had one jumbo pack in Pampers size 4, but I know that they get their stock in tomorrow so I can pick up more then to work my CVS ECB deal.

Since I had some time to kill I wandered around the store and came across 50% makeup! Awesomeness. I need more foundation, plus I had some coupons. The foundation was regularly priced $12.99, but I was getting it for $6.50. I printed a $5/2 coupon and I had a CVS store coupon for $2 off $10 makeup purchase. So with the coupons, it was like I was getting one of those foundations for FREE!!!!
Lastly, I grabbed some Dawn dish soap which was on sale for 99 cents each. In the P&G that came out in Sunday's paper, there was a 50 cent off coupon. So, I was picking those up for half off as well.
All in all I had a total of $10 in coupons. I paid $15.93 (plus tax) and saved $28. 72 which is 64% savings! I'm happy with that! How did you save this week? Do you have any items you need to stock up on?

Another Simple Moment: A Day At The Park

{my simple moment} – A new ritual. A single photo, maybe two – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, significant, blessed moment. A moment I want to treasure and remember

You know you're a mommy when: Nuggets

You know you're a mommy when......you've had to argue bargain compromise with you toddler.

My Little Miss can sometimes be a finicky eater. She does however love chocolate milk! So tonight I had to tell her if she finished her chicken nuggets she could have more milk.
It took some resolve on my part, but eventually she did eat her nuggets and I gave her a little more chocolate milk! Have you ever had a similar experience in some way with your kiddo? If so what was it? How did you handle it?

New Year Savings

The beginning of the new year is a great time to shop. Stores cut prices to move Christmas and holiday inventory so if you can take advantage! I know I did. Today I went to Kohls and was able to take advantage of some of their deals!

I love Kohls! My mother in law introduced me to this store! The store had items on clearance from 60 to 80%! Wowsa! Now if only you could find a lot of stuff in that 80% off range life would be great, but usually that's not the case. This is a great time to pick up items for next Christmas if you can because of the rock bottom pricing.

Here are some of the things I got:

All the necklaces were 80% off! I've been wanting to add to my accessories, but not at a rediculous price or overly obnoxious looking bauble! I thought these pieces would coordinate nicely with multiple outfits and would be nice accents.
I also got a Sonoma Sweater and a SO pullover fleece. I know what you're thinking....what teacher needs another sweater? My answer is I didn't have that color!
All in all, I spent $32 dollar and saved $121 which amounts to 79% savings! Woot, woot! I used only one coupon for 15% off my total purchase. Another successful shopping trip with simple and significant savings!
