Greetings friends and readers! I know, I know.....where have I been? What have I been doing? Of course, you should know the answer to this if you know me. I've been working as a mom and teacher. I've found some time to read, relax, and spend time with the hubby somewhere along the way.
With the mini catch up and apologies out of the way, I suppose it's time for the obligatory Valentine's Day post. My hubby and I took the time to have our date night last weekend. My mother in law took the kiddo and the parents took the opportunity to have an adult night out. Remember, it's important to take these moments when you can! We went to Carrabba's on of our favorites and had a delicious dinner.
As for "Valentine's day" gifts, the hubs commissioned a family painting via an Etsy artist. He chose one of the pics from our recent family photoshoot! This is a totally unique and thoughtful gift. Oh you got a giant teddy bear or flowers that will wilt in a day or so....that's nice, but my gift will be proudly displayed in our home for years! I will post a picture of it when it arrives.
In addition to the painting, my hubby bought a home made cheese cake for us! OMG!
Nothing says "I love you" like cheese cake! I'll be honest and say I didn't eat any yesterday because I had my limit on sweets at school, but I sure did have a slice this morning with my coffee! So worth it and I'll probably do it again. (No shame)
I had a nice day at work as well. I had a student give me this cute psych themed card.
My psych class also had fun with their loved themed lesson. I had them read "The Science of Love" by Judith Newman the night before and write a summary and reflection. During our class time, their assignment was to write a love letter, poem, song or pick up lines using 20 vocabulary words. This lesson was hilarious! I literally teared up and almost peed my pants listened to their shared responses! Here are a few samples:
When I am around you I feel like Pavlov's dog because you make me drool!
Being without you gives me night terrors because I wake up screaming!
You are like my medulla. I can't live without you!
Lastly, I got to spend the evening eating Chinese take out and playing with Little Miss. I got to do puzzles, read books and play with her hair!
All in all it was a lovely day....nothing extravagant, but simple and significant. I wouldn't have asked for anything more! How was yours?
