Football Friday Nights

Last night I went to my high school football game--the old alma mater. I love going to the home games and cheering on "the boys." I was feeling a little nostalgic this morning so I wrote a little poem.

Friday Night Lights
A sea of red and black
Fall
Cheerleaders dance and the band plays
At my hometown football game.
Loyal alumni crowd the stands
There's a line at the ticket gate.
Pre-game warmup
The time is almost here
Where on the field where the
boys of fall meet their fate.

A coin is tossed
And lines are drawn on the grid iron.
Go get 'em boys!
Hike! Push, run, crawl, score!
"Let's go Raiders!"
"Defense."
"Come on!?"
"Go baby, go baby! Go!"

Peanuts, get your peanuts!
50/50 tickets
What did the announcer say?
Just another Friday Night at
a hometown football game.
